For these campers, the ANWB in the Netherlands has selected ninety-six charming campsites: campsites that excel in location, appearance and hospitality. With spacious, green pitches in idyllic locations, such as in the woods, near the beach or by a beautiful lake. Each and every one of them is a dream location.
Charming campsites often resemble nature campsites. Facilities such as a swimming pool, restaurant or campsite shop are usually not available or limited at the campsite itself, and entertainment is also not available or limited at most campsites. A charming campsite is not too big and not too small: the number of pitches ranges from twenty to two hundred. This means you never feel like you are just a number. You can count on a little more personal attention from the campsite manager, because hospitality is of paramount importance at these campsites. Another characteristic of charming campsites is that they excel in terms of location: a beautiful view, lovely natural vegetation or historic buildings in the immediate vicinity. Sometimes part of the campsite is a natural camping area. This is often one of the reasons why these campsites are classified as charming campsites. As with other campsites, charming campsites are slightly busier during the high season or during special events.
