Original CADAC Skottelbraai

The CADAC Skottelbraai originated in South Africa. When farmers were out in the open, for dinner they would take an old plowshare, build a fire under it and "braai" their meat on it. Decades ago, CADAC (until then manufacturer of gas cylinders) came up with the idea of placing the ploughshare in round and enamel form, via a tube on a gas cylinder. Thus the "Skottelskaar Braai," later "Skottel Braai," was born.

Nowadays there is a complete range of CADAC products available, but the basic idea has remained the same: easy, quick and healthy preparation of a complete meal in the open air on appliances that can be disassembled, folded up and transported in a carrier bag in no time at all.

The Skottel is perfect for preparing all kinds of dishes outdoors; from eggs and pancakes to stir-fries and sausages or other meats. When some of the food is ready, you can keep it warm on the outside of the Skottel using the Skottel Food Separators (sold separately)

The Skottelbraai weighs only 6kg and is easy to take with you, thanks to the base that unscrews .

The Skottel is easy to keep clean by using the CADAC Skottel foil. This non-stick foil lasts a long time and can be cleaned in soapy water or a dishwasher. Should you not use the foil, you can clean the Skottel by putting a layer of water in the Skottel after use with a dishwasher tablet or some detergent. Just let it boil gently and the Skottel is easy to clean.

No lid fits on the Skottelbraai or Paella Braai.
